FC Surge Women's Soccer



F.C. Surge,
Miami’s highest level of women’s amateur soccer, recently announced a return of Head Coach Ramiro Vengoechea for the 2021 season.  The Surge participate in the 116 team nationwide Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).

Head Coach Ramiro Vengoechea assumed the reins of the team in the spring of 2016.. 

Coach Vengoechea had previous WPSL experience as assistant coach with the former South Florida Strikers.  He is the Varsity Head Coach of Our Lady of Lourdes Academy girls team FHSSA State Champions and finalists five of the last eight years and has been named  Miami Herald All Dade Girls Coach of the Year on multiple occaisions. He has also coached at Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club since 2007 and is currently Girls Director of Coaching.  He was formerly assistant coach at Florida Memorial University.

A Miami native, Coach Vengoechea played at Miami Sunset High and went on to Philadelphia University where he was Co-Captain of the D1 Men’s Soccer Team.  He completed is BBA in International Business at FIU.  He has a USSF National B License (and is completing the A), Coerver Youth Diploma, and ICA Fitness & Conditioning Certification. 

The Surge are proud to have Coach Vengoechea with the organization for a 5th season.  


This is Coach Iko's 2nd season with the Surge.  Iko runs a very successful private soccer training program Elite Striking.  A local soccer talent Iko played for FIU and had pro stints in Brasil and Germany.  


New to the coaching staff is Shawn Chin.   Another local soccer talent Shawn played college ball at Boston College finishing at USF.  He has played professionally for several teams in the NASL, USL and NPSL most recently with Miami FC.  Shawnis now coaching youth at Pinecrest Premier SC.
